[ABRIDGED] Series

Each [ABRIDGED] series is the history of a performance style. 

Workshops are tailored to grade-appropriate levels.

Theatre

Grades 6 - 12

There is no way to fully summarize thousands of years of history spanning across the globe. This [ABRIDGED] lecture covers Western Theatre history spanning from the Ancient Greeks to now. It will cover the major eras, playwrights, and dramatic genre shifts that have been documented throughout the Western canon.

Musical Theatre

Grades 4 - 12

Believe it or Not - Musical Theatre is only about 100 years old, and yet it has a rich history. This [ABRIDGED] lecture can be broken down for 3 different age groups, grades 4-6, 7-8, and 9-12; each expanding outwards. It will cover a wide range of subjects from Eras, Composers, and the Biggest Broadway shows, through directors, awards, and cultural revolutions.

Dance

Grade 4 - 12

Dance is a performance style that spans the world over and all cultures. This [ABRIDGED] lecture will cover the major styles of the Western Canon, from ballet to street dance styles. It can be broken down for 3 different age groups, grades 4-6, 7-8, and 9-12, with each age group expanding outwards. Students will learn about major styles, choreographers, dancers, and the influence of dance in media, with supplemental videos.

Technical Theatre

Grades 6 - 12

A large part of theatre is hidden in plain sight, the technical elements of the stage, lights, sound, costumes, and all of the work that happens unseen behind the curtain. When did the curtain become a hallmark of the stage?  Questions like this will be addressed is this [ABRIDGED] lecture. It will cover Technical advancements across Western Theatre history, including major Eras, Designers, and revolutions through the years.
