land acknowledgement

We would like to acknowledge that the land we work on is the Traditional Territory of many nations, recorded and unrecorded, including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat peoples, and it is now the home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.

Toronto, or Tkaronto the land where the trees are standing in the water, is covered by Treaty 13, and is part of the Dish with One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, wherein all the people who live and work on this land share the responsibility of caring for this land, that it may continue to provide for generations to come.

We invite you to reflect on the future that we desire for those generations, and to examine the gaps, perhaps, between that world and the one we live in now.

We invite you to reflect on how you can speak up for the things you care about. What are you willing to do? How can we stand up against colonialism, genocide and displacement here on Turtle Island and beyond.

Here at Sunbeam, we believe it is important to follow up our words with actions, especially when it comes to reparations. We donate 10% of our proceeds from every production to a local Indigenous organization.
